Plastic Packaging Tax

Plastic Packaging Tax Information

Although the Plastic Packaging Tax is live from the 1st April 2022, there are still some grey areas in the legislation provided by HMRC.

We are looking to get these cleared up before supplying any information that may be incorrect, inadequate or unnecessary.

The points clarified via HMRC for roll materials are:

  • If the face material is plastic, PPT is payable, unless the recycled content is 30% or higher.
  • PPT is liable at the site of last significant modification.
  • Plastic Backing/carriers – Whenever the backing carrier is unprinted, the PPT tax point will rest with the importer or UK manufacturer. If printed, the tax point moves to the printer/converter.
  • Plastic Face materials. If printed, the PPT tax point is with the printer/converter.
  • For roll materials, we assume the last significant modification will be with the printer us and therefore the printer will be liable for the PPT.
  • The liner is excluded from the weight calculations.
  • The adhesive is included in the construction weight.
  • PPT is payable once the 10 tonne threshold (in a 12 month period) is reached.
  • Registration is required once the 10 tonne threshold is reached. You must register within 30 days after you meet the criteria (criteria being 10 tonne of plastic orders placed and in the system).
  • Online service to register and pay will be available from 1st April 2022
  • PPT is payable at £200 per metric tonne
  • Requirement to show amount of PPT tax on invoices from 1 April 2022 has been postponed.

There may be further information we can supply on this once further clarification is supplied on the legislation by HMRC.

We are currently in the process of populating the materials with PPT liability and weights. Once this has been completed, we will advise of further information.

Materials Office Administrator

We are seeking a new office administrator within our Baker Materials department in Brentwood, Essex.

Overall Description:

To carry out specific office administrative based tasks detailed below.

To provide support to the Materials teams.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Processing orders and entering them on to the MIS system
  • Distributing samples to customers
  • Arranging despatch paperwork
  • Liaising with couriers on any delays or issues
  • Assist with incoming phones calls, dealing with sales enquiries, dealing with customer enquiries
  • Working on e-shots with the PR Department
  • Dealing with internal label enquiries
  • Chasing quotations sent to customers
  • Any other Customer Service / Admin related tasks.
  • Creating Codes and Spec Sheets
  • Liaising with accounts dept
  • Batching in deliveries

 

Other duties relating to sales, admin and customer service when detailed by the Senior Sales Administration / Production Manager.

Main purpose of role.

  • To provide the very best level of customer service ensuring that all e-mail correspondence is dealt with accurately and efficiently.
  • To act as a key point of contact between the Sales & Admin Administrator and the Customers ensuring that detailed information is passed properly to process orders.

The film is tear resistant and has good dimensional stability when exposed to variations in temperature and humidity. The high performance coating enables good adhesion to high and low surface energy substrates

Typical Industry Sectors and Applications

BM369 is an ideal material for use within laboratories, healthcare and pharmaceautical industries for on-demand variable information labels that require to be held at extremely low temperatures.

The adhesive is a permanent modified acrylic aqueous dispersion, with very good chemical, humidity and UV resistance.

Temperature range of -196°C to +120°C

Materials Stock Control Operative

Materials Stock Control Operative

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our Materials department.

Working within the team, you will be assisting with the smooth running of the materials department and ensuring that accurate stock levels are maintained at all times.

This full-time role includes:

  • Loading and unloading all goods using Forklift Truck
  • Keep stock system updated at all times
  • Put away all incoming deliveries of stock in correct location
  • Conduct a full stock take each month
  • Booking in of all goods onto stock system
  • Carry out any other ad hoc tasks reasonably requested by the Management/Supervisor team
  • Maintain a tidy and well organised warehouse at all times

 

Skills and Experience: 

  • Knowledge of materials handling and stores environment
  • Ability to work in a busy environment while delivering targets
  • Physically fit and able to undertake manual handling duties on a day to day basis
  • Receptive to training and continuous improvement
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work on your own initiative, as well as be a good team player
  • Attention to detail
  • Methodical worker
