Non-Adhesive Labels: Durable Tag Solutions

Not every labelling job calls for adhesive. In fact, there are many applications where labels or tag stock are the most effective solution, whether it’s a garden centre plant label, a warehouse or pallet identification tag, or a retail swing tag. That’s where non-adhesive materials come into play.

At Baker Materials, we supply a range of high-performance non-adhesive synthetic paper suited to various print methods.

What is synthetic paper?

Synthetic paper is a plastic-based material that looks and prints like traditional paper, but with enhanced durability. Usually tear-resistant, waterproof and chemical resistant, making it ideal for tags used outdoors or in industrial settings.

Why use Non-Adhesive Materials?

There are advantages to using synthetic paper. Without an adhesive layer, tags can be easily updated, replaced or reused, ideal when pricing changes frequently or promotions and special offers hit the shelves for a limited time. They’re also a practical choice for situations where labels need to hang, loop or be inserted into place rather than stuck directly onto a surface.

Durability is another key factor. Synthetic materials are designed to hold up in harsh environments, so whether it’s rain in the garden centre (thanks to the lovely English weather) or dust in the warehouse, the print remains clean, and the tag stays intact.

Synthetic Materials in Stock and Ready to Go

BM1092 and BM1098 are both white, PE-based synthetic paper with excellent resistance to water, grease and chemicals. They’re widely used for applications including tags, loop labels, lumber tags and steel hangers. The main difference between the two is the thickness, BM1092 is 120 micron and BM1098 adding extra strength with the thickness 190 micron.

Another versatile option is BPA001, a waterproof matt coated synthetic paper with excellent resistance to tearing, grease, chemicals and temperature changes. Well-suited to a wide range of uses, from luggage tags and horticultural labels to shelf labels, in-store displays and food labelling. This material is also approved for direct contact with foodstuffs (non-acidic), making it suitable for applications where hygiene and compliance matter.
